A Few Words From Our Patients...

Dentist for kids

"The staff at the Dentists South Shore is very accommodating. It’s nice to have friendly faces behind the desks and in the cleaning/exam rooms. My kids love coming to the dentist! Quite a few of my relatives come in to see Dr. Tom. He spends quality time with the patient – answering any questions or concerns."

– Jodi F., Waterford, WI

Milwaukee's family dentist

"Dr. Tom and his staff have always treated my family as a part of their family. We are always greeted with smiles and happy attitudes. Dr. Tom and his staff make my autistic twins actually happy to visit the dentist. Thank you!"

– Diane H., Milwaukee, WI

100% trust

"It is a miracle! I volunteered to be Dr. Christian's first implant patient. I've come a long way going through root canals, crowns, and then the implant. I would say that is 100% trust."

- Sandra P., Bayside, WI

Made me feel comfortable with dentists

"After several unpleasant experiences with other dentists, Dr. Tom and his staff have taken away the “fear of the dentist.” He has a way of making everyone feel important. With three kids involved in school activities, Dr. Tom’s flexible hours make scheduling appointments easy."

– Joy R., Milwaukee, WI

No more fear of dental work

"I recommend Dr. Christian to all my family and friends - or anyone who has a fear of dental work. I was the worst case scenario. I would actually have panic attacks before and during dental visits at my previous dentist. Dr. Christian and his staff were so understanding and helped me through my fears. I now look forward to having my teeth fixed and don't think twice about having another panic attack."

- Scott, Franklin, WI

Up on the latest technology

"Dr. Tom and his office staff treat you like a customer rather than a patient. They understand that customers want quality service given in a timely manner. I would recommend Dr. Tom to my family and friends. He is a good dentist. He keeps up with the latest technology. He respects the time constraints of his customers and treats you with respect and moral concern."

– George Z., Milwaukee, WI

Patient and kind

"I am very grateful to Dr. Tom for his patience and creativity during my recent big [dental] project. I can truthfully say I feel more confident, and I think my smile is much improved. Dr. Tom’s staff is wonderful, kind, professional and talented. Thank you so much."

– Paula W., Milwaukee, WI

No more headaches

"After years of suffering from T.M.J., it was Dr. Tom who finally was able to fit me with a night guard that actually works. I sleep better and awoke without the morning headache caused by T.M.J. Thanks Dr. Tom!"

- Nancy S., Milwaukee, WI

A beautiful new smile

"The doctors are professional, personable, courteous and ethical. On my second visit I was greeted by name which impressed me. The equipment is state-of-the-art. Dr. Tom, Dr. Christian and their staff listen to my concerns and wishes. Thank you for my beautiful smile."

CEREC:  The Contemporary Tooth Fairy

"When I was a child in the 1950’s losing a tooth was a momentous event.  It carried with it many emotions:  surprise, joy, pain, wonderment.  It was an indication of an increase in maturity, getting your adult teeth.  It almost always signified an increase in pocket money, for baseball cards and gum, due to the Tooth Fairy’s visit.  It meant pain because even though the tooth was loose it still had to be out and in your hand to go under your pillow.  Getting it out called for a variety of creativity and courage:  a string could be secured around the tooth and knotted.  The other end of the string could be tied to a doorknob and the door slammed while you had been distracted to look the other way.  OR a sibling, more dexterous and motivated than Mom, could insert his/her little fingers and wiggle (or slam) it out of place.  OR a piece of hard, dried bread could be administered to be ruthlessly chewed apart and the tooth spit out later.  OR one could just wait it out depending on how dire one’s circumstances were.

Now, as a mature adult in the new millennia, the prospect of a loose tooth is viewed significantly differently.  Surprise, pain, and wonderment are all present but very little joy.  Thoughts like:  I couldn’t be this old yet to have my teeth falling out, could I?  How could this be?  I brushed my teeth and flossed at least twice a day EVERY day…..OR did I?  Why can’t I chew this steak like I used to?  Maybe I had better cut smaller pieces?  Why do my words not sound the same when I speak?  I didn’t know having a tooth or not makes a difference in how my mouth and tongue can form words and emit sounds.  Is that a whistle I just heard?  Did that come from me?  A trip to the dentist is usually necessary and always signifies a decrease in available pocket money.

Hmmm, what do I do?

I highly recommend a visit to see Dr. Tom Charapata and his associates at The Dentists South Shore, 704 E. Layton Ave., Milwaukee, WI  53207, (414) 483-1600.  Through continuing education and openness to new ways, Dr. Tom has reinvented himself as the New Age Tooth Fairy.  He now is able to CREATE a new tooth to be inserted right were a well-used tooth could no longer provide effective service to you.  He is able to do this through the use of computer programs and a new machine called CEREC.  The scanning tool and program are able to digitally recreate your exact size and shaped tooth as well as its correct placement between your existing teeth.  Once the scanning is complete the digital information is sent to CEREC, a state-of-the-art laser machine.  There, while under internally illuminated see-through dome, using a pre-selected, porcelain plug, one can watch the water-cooled laser drills begin to take away the excess porcelain honing this plug into a graceful, long-lasting, exact replica of your former tooth.  Magic?  Science?  It is both.  I am ever so grateful for Dr. Tom’s dedicated service to his patients to provide this practical and economical solution to keeping a full set of viable teeth."
